Brookhaven

Brookhaven is a city located in DeKalb County to Atlanta’s northeast.

Welcome to Brookhaven

Inviting area with an enticing mix of old and new

Incorporated in 2012, Brookhaven is a city located in DeKalb County to Atlanta’s northeast. It has a developing retail and restaurant scene and new construction mixed with historic homes throughout numerous distinctive neighborhoods.

Historic Brookhaven is the oldest district in the city, where grand early-20th-century mansions and estates designed by some of Atlanta’s premier architects surround the prestigious Capital City Country Club. Brookhaven Village is the city’s modern town center, featuring mixed-used developments surrounded by single-family homes in the Ashford Park and Drew Valley neighborhoods. Lynwood Park encapsulates Brookhaven’s evolution, where modern Craftsman-style properties have replaced most of the neighborhood’s older housing stocks in recent years. North Brookhaven is characterized by suburban neighborhoods composed of single-family homes surrounded by parks and lakes, while diverse Buford Highway at Brookhaven’s southern boundary is densely-populated and features great authentic ethnic restaurants.

People & Lifestyle

Brookhaven is an up-and-coming community with many young families living in the area. The high-end shopping and world-class dining of Atlanta’s Buckhead district can be reached from Brookhaven within ten minutes on foot. The community has a warm and inviting feel, with numerous parks and cozy local businesses.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Much of Brookhaven’s commercial development is centered along Peachtree Road, which connects the community to Atlanta’s upscale Buckhead district. Town Brookhaven is an open-air shopping area with dozens of stores and restaurants, including Costco and Publix supermarkets and gourmet in-theater dining at the CineBistro movie theater. Other restaurants along Peachtree Road include Arnette’s Chop Shop, a stylish spot blending modern farm-to-table dining with a classic rustic American steakhouse.

Located in the Brookhaven Village area, HAVEN is a lively neighborhood eatery with live music on Thursdays and a must-try Sunday brunch feast, while Valenza serves delicious Northern Italian cuisine in a cozy rustic space.

Brookhaven residents also enjoy close proximity to the many awesome restaurants along Buford Highway. This international dining corridor features more than 125 restaurants serving tasty dishes from around the world. Standouts include Salvadorian-style eats at Pupuseria Mi Terra, a decadent two-hour omakase tasting course at Sushi Hayakawa, Mexican grilled chicken at El Autentico Sinaloense Pollos Asados, spicy Sichuan dishes at Masterpiece, Cantonese hotpots at BBQ Corner, Vietnamese fusion cooking at C’om, Havana Sandwich Shop’s Cuban sandwiches, and what many consider to be Atlanta’s best tacos at El Rey Del Taco.

Things to Do

The Capital City Club is one of the oldest private social clubs in the South, where it was established in 1883 and began construction in 1913. Facilities at this exclusive country club include a challenging golf course designed by Herbert Barker and Bob Cupp and an exquisite 1920s clubhouse with areas for family-friendly casual dining and upscale fine dining. Despite the air of exclusivity surrounding the Capital Club, it is thought that around half of Historic Brookhaven’s residents are members.

Several large public parks are also located within Brookhaven. Lynwood Park has a swimming pool and community rec center, while Blackburn Park has fields, trails, and lighted tennis courts. Brookhaven Arts Festival takes place each October and features more than 120 artists participating in juried art competitions. The festival also has a kids’ zone with arts-and-crafts activities, food and drink vendors, and a classic car show.
