Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown

Reynoldstown and Cabbagetown are two historic neighborhoods located close to Downtown Atlanta.

Welcome to Reynoldstown and Cabbagetown

Former mill town area rejuvenated with creative flair

Reynoldstown and Cabbagetown are two historic neighborhoods located close to Downtown Atlanta. Directly south of Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park, these redeveloping neighborhoods are benefitting from decades of rejuvenation powered by a creative heartbeat. Artists began moving into the area in the 1990s and helped establish Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown as two of the hippest neighborhoods in Atlanta, full of street art and off-beat independent businesses.

Cabbagetown initially grew as a village for workers at the Fulton Mill in the 1880s, and much of its real estate consists of bungalows from this period and chic industrial loft conversions. Reynoldstown’s eclectic architecture includes late-19th century Queen Annes, early-20th-century bungalows, and contemporary single-family homes and lofts.

What to Love

  • Creative and artistic vibe

People & Lifestyle

Reynoldstown and Cabbagetown have long been a haven for artists and creatives, which is a huge part of these neighborhoods’ appeal. Street art can be found enlivening the streets throughout the area. Rich in character and community spirit, these neighborhoods are two of Atlanta’s best-kept secrets.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Carroll Street connects the former Fulton Mill with the historic area of workers’ housing surrounding it. Lined with bohemian cafés, bars, and restaurants, Carroll Street is now the main hub of Cabbagetown’s modern resurgence. Agave opened in 2000 to rave reviews and its lively setting and delicious New Mexican cuisine remain a neighborhood favorite. Little’s Food Store has been a mainstay here for much longer, opening in 1929 and evolving over the years into a great spot for groceries, fresh bread and pastries, and tasty grill and deli foods. Carroll Street Café is a bohemian bistro and a favorite hangout of local artists and musicians. JenChan’s creatively combines Southern and Asian cooking with a menu featuring items like Mongolian beef cheesesteak and crispy Asian chicken wings.

Located a few blocks from Carroll Street on Memorial Drive, Petit Chou is a coffee shop, bar, and bistro serving delicious breakfast and dinner dishes fusing French and Southern cuisine.

Heading east along Memorial Drive into Reynoldstown, popular spots include laid-back country diner Home Grown and upscale mid-century-style craft cocktail tavern Golden Eagle, while Reynoldstown’s Parkgrounds is an inviting coffee shop with a dog-friendly policy.

Things to Do

Cabbagetown Park is a cozy neighborhood green space with stone sculptures and a children’s playground. Events held at the park include outdoor yoga sessions and movie screenings on the first and third Fridays of each month. Held on the first Saturday in November, Chomp & Stomp at Cabbagetown Park is a lively celebration centered on a bluegrass music festival, 5K run, and a chili cook-off. The chili cook-off typically features around 70 individual entrants and more than twenty professional entries from local restaurants. More than 15,000 runners participate in the 5K run, many dressed up in Halloween-style costumes. Bluegrass musicians play across three stages, along with numerous secret porch performances at streets across the neighborhood.

Atlanta Dairies in Reynoldstown is an urban renewal project transforming a former dairy warehouse into a mixed-use space with shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The Fulton Cotton Mill has been reimagined as stylish modern apartments and condominiums now known as The Stacks and the Fulton Mill Lofts. Residents of these iconic premises have access to amenities including a swimming pool, clubhouse, and fitness center.
